Bastrop County has a long history of hospitality – one in which we take great pride. Stephen F. Austin probably had the first organized tourism campaign for Bastrop County. He encouraged folks to come and enjoy the beauty that he had found. We are grateful to those that began the process of growth in our Lost Pines area of Central Texas – so close to Houston, Austin and San Antonio and yet, even now, a world away.
