General Information

Bastrop County Job Creation Program

Due to the critical need for Bastrop County's citizens to make a full recovery from the devastating effects of the September 2011 wildfire, the count has worked with the Texas General Land Office (GLO) and with the United States Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) to identify Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds which are being used to support a Job Creation Program for Bastrop County.  These funds, which total $1,880,000, will be used to offer forgivable loans to employers willing to hire new employees.  Because this is a HUD program at least 51% of the jobs created must be for people of low-to-moderate income.

Bastrop County is responsible for administering and monitoring the loans.  At the end of a specified performance period, the County is authorized to forgive the loans at no cost to the County and our local tax payers.  The program promises to creat jobs for Bastrop County's residents, support local businesses and help to build an even stronger local economy.
