After the Fire - The Recovery In response to the Bastrop County Complex Fire, Bastrop County assembled the Lost Pines Recovery Team—a consortium of local, state and federal entities with comprehensive knowledge of the Lost Pines ecosystem—to address natural resources issues stemming from the fire. The team worked collaboratively to collect and review data and develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) for short-term recovery. BMPs are the methods that have been determined to be the most effective and practical means to accomplish a particular outcome, in this case post-fire landscape recovery. Development of the BMPs took into consideration the interrelationships between all natural resources areas, effects of the current drought and short-term rainfall projections, as well as long-term ecosystem recovery. Property owners with land affected by the Bastrop County Complex Fire may be eligible for assistance to restore the native landscape as funding becomes available. To be eligible for this assistance, property owners much complete and submit a right-of-entry form. Completed forms may be mailed to Lost Pines Recovery Team, 901 Pecan Street, Bastrop, TX 78602; emailed to This email address is being protected from spambots.
