Post-Fire Workshop Presentations  

 On January 13, 2012, the Lost Pines Recovery Team provided a free educational program for landowners affected by the recent wildfires who wanted to know more about landscape recovery and restoration post-fire.  Topics included: History of Fire in our Ecosystem – What Made the Bastrop County Complex Fire Different, Post-Fire Water Quality, Post-Fire Restoration and Regeneration, Short-Term and Long-Term Revegetation Strategies, What Happened to the Houston Toad, Wildfire Mitigation and Firewise Landscaping, Erosion Control Strategies, Managing Wildlife After The Fire – Wildlife Tax Valuation and Beyond, Post-Fire Land Management, And Future Outlook for Weather and Fuels.

 

 Attendees had a chance to visit with a variety of vendors including seed companies, native plant nurseries, tree services, erosion control companies, equipment dealers and operators, and more as well as visit with staff from natural resource agencies and companies. 

 The Lost Pines Recovery Team will hold its next workshop – a combination of classroom and hands-on experience – on May 11-12, 2012, at the Lost Pines Scout Reservation.
